Pocket Doors

Has anyone tried to replace or fix a pocket door? If so I'd love some thoughts! We have a very sticky pocket door on our main floor bathroom and are trying to figure out how to fix it. We could knock a hole in the wall and tare the whole system out and put a new one in, but that seems like a  lot of work for such a minor (but extremely annoying) problem. We will if we have to, but I am just wondering if there are any alturnatives, or if anyone who has done this knows what steps to take! Thanks!

Re: Pocket Doors

  • We had a pocket door for our bathroom, took it out and replaced it with a regular swinging door.  We took the trim off the wall, took the door off the tracks and it pretty much came right out. It was a lot easier than we thought it was going to be.  But this was also a crappy door that was not properly fitted, so it wobbled back and forth (if that makes sense).  The previous owners were idiots.  Maybe if it was installed better we would have had a harder time getting it out.  That wasn't much help was it?
