I stumbled upon this website and thought it was interesting. I read about the Trayvon Martin case and was 100% against the grown man stalking some 17 year old boy and ending up killing him (I STILL consider him an idiot for ignoring police advice and following him - especially if he thought Trayvon looked suspicious!). What I find interesting is all of the pictures in the media of Trayvon are older pictures where he is younger and looks more "helpless". The only picture they show of Zimmerman is his mug shot where he looks menacing, not one of him smiling. Typical media. Below is a website that shows current pictures of Trayvon Martin looking less like the little boy in the pictures in the news. Funny how the media likes to "create" a story the way they want it portrayed.
ETA: My first confusion was how Trayvon supposedly overpowered Zimmerman. Then I read he was 6'3" which I did not expect since he looks about 5'7" in the media pics.

Re: Trayvon Martin
I pointed out this VERY SAME THING this morning to T while we were watching the Today show.
I suspect George Zimmerman was doing more than just defending himself but I worry that he won't receive a fair trial because he's essentially been tried and found guilty in the court of public opinion.
I just looked through the site you linked to. It's calling for non-biased judgment to be made on the case but the pictures of Trayvon with his middle fingers raised aren't exactly the least biased pictures out there. Nor do I think it should matter if George's father is a retired judged (according to the site). Children of cops and judges have killed people as well.
I am interested in hearing more about this alleged witness who saw an altercation between Trayvon and George.
There have been current pics of Trayvon splashed all over HLN all day. And smiling George Zimmerman. I had to turn it off because like I said in another thread, I'm just irritated with the entire human race.
Not trying to start anything, just pointing out that you're kind of wrong.
So what exactly are you trying to say? That you don't blame Zimmerman for shooting an unarmed kid for walking home with his hood pulled up because you found out he doesn't look as young as you thought? Or because Zimmerman is part Hispanic so there's no way he could be racist against other minorities?
If I was being chased and I thought I stood a fighting chance at overpowering the shooter, I'd try. Wouldn't you?
This right here is exactly what I'm worried about. You've already found George Zimmerman guilty. How many other people across the country and in the state of Florida especially (where a trial may be held and a jury pulled from) have seen a picture of Trayvon Martin in his football photo smiling and a picture of George Zimmerman grimacing from what I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) a mug shot from a prior arrest? Don't you think it's the tiniest bit biased that a media outlet chose to use a photo from a prior arrest that has absolutely nothing to do with this case? Media outlets continue to refer to Travyon by his first name only, like he's someone we all know and use George Zimmerman's last name only. It all sends a message, a subtle one but a message nonetheless.
I think instead of this lynch mob mentality against George Zimmerman we need to demand a better response from the police department and the district attorney's office. They are the ones who did not make an arrest that evening or in the weeks since. They have all the evidence available at the moment and I highly doubt there is some huge conspiracy in those two offices to protect George Zimmerman. Maybe the evidence shows to trained officials that it was self-defense or maybe all the evidence hasn't put together a solid case yet. This is not CSI or Law & Order...in many cases it takes weeks to put a case together before you have enough to warrant an arrest and charges. The case is not yet closed nor was it closed when the media grab hold of it 10 days ago.
Like I said in my initial response, I do suspect George Zimmerman did more than defend himself but right now, unless I'm in the police department or district attorney's office I' don't know more than what's being presented on TV and in the papers.
That website is definitely bias also.
I think the real bias is the fact that Zimmerman is around to tell his side of the story while Trayvon isn't.
Move over so I can sit next to you.
Hey that made me silver! Where's my parade?
But back to the business: I wish I lived closer to Atlanta because I would be at that rally. Unfortunately, DD wouldn't fare well for that.
Like I've said a few times already, I don't think his intentions were on the up and up (to say the least) but Ojo raised a good point with Casey Anthony. Florida lost that case because they couldn't proven without a reasonable doubt that she caused her daughter's death. I can guarantee they do not want a repeat of that and they will do everything they can to ensure their case is air tight before pressing charges and going into a court room.
IMO they lost that case because the Prosecutors went for the Death Penalty. Had then went for Life in Prison she wouldn't be on free. She was also a liar that lies so good luck trying to figure that *** out.
We know Zimmerman chased the boy down. That is not the media biasing us. It's recorded. And if you chase someone down, you are the aggressor. You don't get to claim self defense if you are an aggressor.
And I'm kind of pearl clutching at saying it's a lynch mob against Zimmerman when in effect, killing Trayvon was the modern form of a lynching.
Hmm...I think yall are misunderstanding the point of my post. I'm annoyed at how the media paints whatever picture they want. I still think Zimmerman is guilty because he wasn't a police officer and shouldn't have tried to pretend to be one. I just couldn't believe Trayvon was 6'3 based on the pic I saw and then that's when I read that the pic being used is really old. The media is painting this out so it'll sell. I'm not saying that website isn't biased. As a matter of fact, I didn't read 85% of that page. I only mentioned the pictures.
Photo bomb, yeah!
Photo bomb, yeah!
Whatever dude. Eyeroll all day. Your point is still wrong.
I had not seen recent pictures of Trayvon before today either. In this case it doesn't change my view that Zimmerman is guilty, but I see what you are saying. There's no doubt the media is often biased.
of all the sites to pick, you pick this one? this site is so bias its not even funny. First off, those (old) pictures were all stolen off the internet, most likely face book. And as for being old, hes only 17, its not like they are showing pictures of him as a toddler. hes a growing KID and we all know how fast CHILDREN can grow, and change in height and weight, but as his overall apperance, judging by his skinny ness and facial features, its obvious that he is a KID... not a threatning adult.
Now goes to the point about being in a Gated community, umm news flash his family lived there!!! so No he wasnt in a place he didnt belong, so I doubt he jumped the fence and "broke" in, unless the gate closed and he hopped the to get in due to lack of the gate code. If you are going to post (articles) at least be sure to rad all of them, since you admited to not reading every thing and just going by the pictures... which all look about the same.
The last picture has no Correlation to the stories at all, and is just Ignorant to make such a shirt and to copy and post it to their biased web page. and yes I live in FL an hr away from stanford.
"I stumbled upon this website and thought it was interesting."
Never said it was a big deal. I still think Zimmerman is guilty and should have never pursued Trayvon. I think it's interesting that the media is portraying Trayvon with 12 year old pictures vs as a 6'3 football player.
I also think it's interesting that the appendix is actually shown to have a purpose in the body now.
I think research into carcinogens is interesting.
I think a lot of things are interesting.
Photo bomb, yeah!
Ah, hell. You caught me. I'm totally biased against crazy asss neighbors chasing down people in the streets thinking they're some kind of combination of Rambo and Batman. I finally admitted it. Happy?
Photo bomb, yeah!
The link didn't work for me.
MrsAggje, fwiw, I've only seen one photo of Trayvon and it's one where he's really young looking (12-14?) and Zimmerman's photo is an old mugshot. I wouldn't thought that Trayvon was that tall. I hadn't seen reports of how tall he was in comparison but only the weight differences.
I think that the media makes a point to use certain photos of victims and always use negative photos of the wrongdoer. I get what you are saying and I'm not sure why this post went so south.
I think someone else made a good point about Zimmerman being called by his last name and Trayvon by his first. It does give a subtle hint to how innocent Trayvon is as a child, etc.
I think it's crazy that Zimmerman hasn't been arrested and this happened in Februaru 2012. I feel so sad for Trayvon to go through something so scary and also for the rest of his family and friends. This is such a tragedy.
