Can you suggest a good dog park near you? Our friends that moved to Columbus have not found a great one. They are willing to pay and provide vet records if needed to get a membership.

They found one that got great reviews but was a 45 min drive each way out in to the north suburbs. They live a bit north of the short north neighborhood. Thanks in advance!

  • Not Katie, but if they live just north of the Short North then they probably live not too far from her :)  I'm not sure which park you're referring to, but Alum Creek Dog Park at Alum Creek State Park in Lewis Center is nice-its free, and has separate big dog/little dog areas and a swimming area.  So is Bark 'til Dark Dog Park in Delaware-that one is private, and you have to show proof of spay/neuter and UTD vaccinations.  The first visit is free, and after that its $10/visit or there are annual memberships but its got a nice swimming and pavilion area.  Unfortunately, Alum Creek is probably a solid 30+ minute drive from where your friends live and Bark 'til Dark is even further north (its probably the one you're referring to).

The Westerville Bark Park would be a little closer, but I've never been there...some of my friends have though, and really like it.  There's also one that should be opening up this year off Bethel Rd, but I'm not sure of the name or when its actually open.  I can't think of any that would be any closer to where your friends live but Katie may be able to chime in with some :)

  • Thank you so much!!! They had mentioned the westerville park--I think that was the one that had some mixed reviews. I but I will suggest they check it out!

I almost forgot-there's also the Dublin dog park.  I've been there once, its not bad but neither the big dog nor the small dog part is all that big and there's very little shade.  Again, it would be a little bit of a haul for your friends...probably about as long a drive as Alum Creek but not as long/far as Bark 'til Dark.  I need to pay better attention to when the one off Bethel opens...its probably the shortest drive for your friends and from what I've heard it's going to be really nice :)
