Building up my stash of recipes
I would legit eat angel hair pasta with butter every night if I could.
My XH was the chef in the relationship and do he always came up with new ideas to try. My FI doesn't really come up with ideas but he would have loved living with my XH. FI always helps with the cooking but leaves the ideas to me.
I think I'm starting to nest so one of my things lately is cooking new meals and building up my 'go to' meals before LO.
So how did/do you ladies start to do that? How 'different' are each week's meals? And care to share any favorite dishes?
Thanks!!! :-)

Re: Building up my stash of recipes
My meals most weeks are different, though we do have some favorites several times a month.
I usually go with what I like. We have one day that is chicken, 1 pork, 1 tofu, 1 ground beef/red meat, 1 either fish or tofu then 1 pasta, 1 vegetarian.
Also I usually try to do 1 Italian, 1 Mexican, 1 Asian, 1 crock-pot, then the rest whatever.
Using these very loose guidelines I'm usually able to look through my blog and pintrest and find my meals for the next week. I menu plan on Friday/Saturday then go grocery shopping on Sundays.
Ditto DaveandLaura.
For recipe ideas,
Pasta e fagioli & this light-er Mongolian Beef are both among my favorites and seem a WHOLE lot fancier than the actual amount of effort required. This black bean soup is very good, and it keeps well for leftovers.
I tend to do 1-2 super easy meals a week with items I always have on hand. This is things like tacos of all kinds, quesadillas, pasta with marinara, pasta with veggies, burgers of all kinds, etc. It is rare even for one of these to get repeated more than once every 3 weeks. These are for the nights when I end up working late and just don't have more time/energy.
Then I tend to add 2 recipes I"ve made before and we liked. Things like buffalo chicken lasagna, spicy honey brushed chicken thighs, oven fried chicken, chicken corn chowder. These are still usually pretty quick and easy for week nights.
Finally 1 or 2 new recipes a week. Or 1 recipe we've had before but it is involved... these are weekend dinners.
Usually try to use the crockpot at least once... and make a meal that I can reimagine the leftovers at least once (ie. a roast in the crockpot for one night, with that meat used in enchilada's the next). For me this is key. It makes me feel like I get a night off from cooking, without eating the same food twice.
