I found a balayage colorist to try!

A girl that works in the same building as me has really pretty blonde hair. I was just chatting with her today and she mentioned taking niacin and how it really helped  her skin. I said something like oh that must be why your hair is so pretty and she told me that it's her colorist. So of course I got her information... She does balayage, is blonde (like me), many of the awesome reviews on Yelp are from blondes, and she used to work in Beverly hills.

So I think I am going to give her a try.

Should I say anything to my current colorist? I adore HER and she is friends on Facebook... Have known her since 05 so I feel bad....

Another thing I like about the new colorist is she doesn't put you under the dryer.

  • You never need to explain!!
  • I wouldn't explain unless you hang out with her outside of the salon.  I really hope this one works out for you.  I love my colorist.  I wish I could send her to you with all of the issues you have had these past years.  I give mine vague, crazy instructions and she always manages to give me exactly what I want.  I think it is because she has an art degree in addition to doing hair and can visualize what people want moreso than someone without the art degree.

really? Huh? I hope that's topical niacin.

No she takes a vitamin but when you google it there is a lot of anecdotal evidence. That wasn't really my point of the post anyway lol.  It sounds too scary to me to try... Haha. I'm weird about what I put in my body.

I totally agree that probably helps! Like I said my hair now isn't bad it's just not perfect.... Maybe I am too picky... Ha

I know it's not your point, but as a nurse, that makes me reaaaaaalllllly nervous and that's why I picked up on that. I looked it up before posting... niacin topically is for skin, but niacin orally acts more as a cholesterol lowering agent--with all the nasty side effects. I just worry about her liver long term, that's all. niacin shouldn't be taken orally (by this, I'm referring to extra supplementation on top of a normal multivitamin) without the supervision of a healthcare provider.

sorry to derail the thread yall. I just don't want people hurting themselves with over the counter medications that can have potentially nasty side effects.

  • I was editing my post as you were posting. I would have happily omitted the name of the pill from my post because I didn't intend for this post to be about that at all.

  • oh sure, and again, I'm sorry to derail. it's mostly for folks who read this thread and think, "ooh I might try this!"not knowing the side effects. and also to maybe pass on to your friend?

  • I'll mention it to her. Let me say I bought a multivitamin from whole foods like a month ago and still havent taken it. Like I said I am super weird when it comes to stuff like that;)

I don't think you can be too picky when it comes to your appearance.  It's your first impression when you meet someone face to face.  My stylist considers every client's hair that she does her calling card.  If they aren't totally satisfied with what she does, she wants to fix it since that's her walking referral for more clients.  I know you care about how you look and it probably affects your mood if you're anything like me.  I've been around here long enough to know it's been a battle for you for quite some time and this isn't something that's been going on for a few months.  My DH would be going insane if I was not totally happy with my hair.  I spent 5 years finding my current stylist and now he doesn't care how much it costs as long as we can afford it and I love it.

No problem!  Remember, I spent half a decade looking for a stylist.  Lol!  Now I have a great one, but when we move it's going to probably happen again.  I've wanted to go blonde for years, but never trusted anyone until I found my current one.  It's good for people to know that color can not always go as planned and that blonde is a lot more than just bleach.
