My husband and I talked last night about how often we think our favorite dinners should be repeated. He thinks we should have a rotation of our favorites that we keep going through, but I love variety and can't bear the thought of eating the same (even favorite) dinners all the time. How often do you repeat favorite meals, and what are those favorite dishes?
Re: Repeat dinners?
From Hey To Horses
We sometimes have repeats pretty often,(like once a week), and other times it could be a month or months between repeats. We do like to try new things, but we like to add to our repertoire, not take away dishes that we love.
We don't really see any reason to avoid eating something just because we have eaten it recently...especially if it is a favorite meal. Sometimes you just feel like eating a particular dish, and nothing else is going to curb that feeling until you actually get it.
We also have a couple of favorites that we use as quick fixes on nights when it is late and we don't have much time. We keep those ingredients on hand, and sometimes there aren't a lot of other pantry/fridge options.
If it were up to my husband, we'd live on chicken parm, chicken marsala, pasta with chicken and artichokes...pretty much pasta and chicken. lol. Which is why I do the planning
I LOVE variety - he's more of a habitual kind of guy.
We will repeat things that are easy, especially on nights that I work (certain crockpot meals, pasta with marinara and ricotta, for example)...other than that, we're always trying new things.

We have repeats frequently in our house just b/c it is easy and we like it.
Usually our repeats are:
lasagna (DH could eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner if had it his way)
Tacos
Burritos
I'm really bad about repeating meals. I always have such a backlog of new recipes to try that I rarely go back to something we've already had. Things like soups/stews, burgers, and roasts (beef, pork, chickens) repeat, but I rarely make things like that from a recipe, more based on memory and what I have on hand.
DH doesn't really care much about what we eat (weirdo!), so he makes very few requests.
