How often do you clean your walls? (clicky!)
We were painting some trim last weekend and a) I realized how much better the fresh paint makes the trim look, but can't do it all the time b) how dirty the trim was/is and how dirty the walls around them are.[Poll]

Re: How often do you clean your walls? (clicky!)
If I see smears, stains, etc. I clean them. I wipe arpound my lightswitches and such probably every few months.
As far as actually washing my entire walls from top to bottom - not really. I paint them every couple of years to freshen up, spot wash, and then scrub baseboards. I washed walls when I moved. Oh, and also I guess I do wash the walls in my dining room probably once a year.
I've never heard of cleaning walls until the nest. I think it's the wackiest thing I've ever heard of. Then again, unlike the people who argue it's an absolute necessity, I don't have overly furry animals, small children, a messy husband, or live in close proximity to any form of agriculture.
The maids wipe down the switchplate covers and baseboards every week and that's as much wall cleaning as is going on in my house lol.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Funny: My mom just sent me a text that my 80 year old Grandma just finished scrubbing her walls and was about to start on the ceilings.
My grandma is awesome. She's like the energizer bunny!
Planned Executed
If I see a scuff or smear, I'll clean it.
Trim gets wiped down once in a blue moon...basically when the sun hits it and I notice the dust that has collected on all of it.
Love walls that have been trimmed out, but they really DO collect a ton of dust.
I do this every week myself, but never clean the walls from top to bottom unless I am going to paint. I do spot clean if I notice something on them, though.
This.
LOL. I am "Close proximity to agriculture" and have yet to wash a wall in my life!
I mean I take a dishsoap rag to the wall the steps are on like twice a year and random clorox wipe around the light switches once in awhile...but that's all.
I'd repaint before I'd wash a wall.
I love that this got posted. I was going to do a major spring cleaning and was going to wash my walls. However, I got injured so it's not likely anytime soon. However, I haven't been able to rationalize washing walls beyond what you all said. I dust my baseboards one room a day and wipe something off if I see it.
I'm going to take this as my "get out of jail free card" and not wash my darn walls.
When ever I see them quite dirty...which for me is often. I have 3 little kids that get their grubby hands (& feet-lol) on everything. The walls around the bathroom & behind the couch are smudged & dirty a lot.
As far as washing entire walls down, I don't do that but if I had textured walls I would need to. I live in an old house (110yrs) & baseboards, furniture gets dusty very quickly...I could see how dust would settle on the texture of walls.
