Has anyone mentioned this yet?

The rules state that you must be a naturally-born-female and she lied on the application, which I don't understand why because she proudly stated in a 2010 interview that she was born a male. She knew at age 4, started hormone treatments at 14, and had surgery when she was 19.
Now there's apparently an online petition to get her back in the competition.
Personally, I have nothing against the transgender community but the rules of the competition are clear.
Thoughts?
Re: Beauty Queen Disqualified
I could go either way on this.
I think the fact that she disclosed this information early on (I didn't read it but I gather this much from what you posted) they should have cut her out earlier.
That being said, times they are a changin'... I think a rule revision needs to be made.
(I didn't read the article I posted, actually, haha. I watched it on the news this morning and just posted a link for those that wanted a story.)
And I agree with you and GLW that (maybe) the rules should be changed.
Probably not a popular view but I think the whole contest should just end. It's 2012, why do we even have these contests anymore?
If the rules state she has to be born a female and she broke the rules then she should be kicked out. If they want things changed, work to change the rules.
I think if the contest continues they should change the rules.
I'm not sure what the advantage is of competing in this as opposed to pursuing a modeling career? I'm sure they are completely different in a lot of aspects. I just don't know why you'd do the pageants instead.
Oh, I totally agree with this. But I'm sure someone would say "It's 2012, we are starting them younger - thank you Toddlers & Tiaras!"
Pageant winners get tons of benefits, but they do it an addition to their regular job. My cousin-in-law is a beauty queen and she gets to travel all over the country giving talks and attending parties and events and photo shoots, she gets free clothes and vacations and products to endorse. She does that in addition to her full-time job (she's a lawyer).
