HELP! Birthday Planning for 1 & 2 year old

Hey girls,

So my girls bday are a month apart but I'm on a budget so I'm planning both of their bday for the month in between, same day. It will be at a park and hopefully crossing fingers it won't rain.

My oldest will turn 2 and my youngest 1. So, I'm looking for ideas on how to decorate the park using Ni Hao Kai Lan as their theme.

Any ideas?? I would really appreciate your help.

I was thinking on doing Chinese boxes with sticks as their party box.  As far as the center pieces go, I'm point blank. I have searched Ni Hao Kai Lan center pieces and they are paper, which might fly away and I really don't like them.

I will appreciate any ideas.. thank you!!

  • I have no idea what this is, I had to google. And I am still lost. But what are party boxes and further what are Chinese boxes with sticks? Sticks and that age group seem like a potentially bad idea, but I don't have kids.
  • I'm not familiar with Ni Hao Kai Lan so I too googled it. What about doing flower centerpieces using the colors of the characters? The girl has red daisies in her hair, so you could use red daisies in a light blue bucket? Or a bowl filled with fortune cookies?

And if there are places to hang things you could get paper lanterns to decorate.

I know, everywhere I go they have no idea who Ni Hao Kai Lan is. Let's just say it's Dora but a little chinese girl that teaches kids chinese language. Since the little girl is chinese that would be the theme, so the party boxes I had in mind is where the chinese rice comes in, along with short plastic sticks for the toddlers.

  • Carlab44,

Thanks for the idea. Ni Hao is like Dora but teaches english and chinese instead of spanish. I really liked the centerpiece idea. Yes, they do have a place to hand paper lanterns that's already in the list. :o

  • Partycity.com has Ni Hao Kai Lan plates and stuff.

  • I would be so annoyed that my DD was given plastic sticks to play with. What is the point?! Tape down butcher paper and fill the Chinese boxes with crayons for the kids to color with. Done!

  • Considering their ages I agree with paper and crayons. I really don't think you need to decorate. Maybe tie a few balloons around and call it a day. Maybe order some stickers for the little kids, they don't really care about favors. If you are set on a centerpiece head to Target for a treehouse toy. They kids can play with it and it won't blow away.

  • I'd have them dress in the Chinese red dresses with gold trim.  So cute!
