What kind of lighting for kitchen?
Lurker with a question. Our kitchen in our condo is on the interior and has no windows and not a ton of natural light coming in from other rooms.
The lighting is awful. It's builder's grade fluorescent lighting (with the long tubes) and one of those plastic covered boxes. I'd like to replace it w/o renovation expense - i.e. no cutting into the ceiling to add recessed lighting - but I don't know what my options are.
What kind of lighting could I use to replace this? Would anyone recommend a ceiling fan for a kitchen? (It gets so hot in there, btw.)
TIA!
Re: What kind of lighting for kitchen?
Depending on what's under the box, you can absolutely replace that light. You could use a regular light fixture, track lighting, or a ceiling fan fixture.
I'm not 100% comfortable making a recommendation specifically without a photo - do you have one you can PIP or link to?
Hmm, no I don't.
Just think big, bulky, and fugly. ;-)
The whole kitchen? Dang.
No, just the lighting. The whole kitchen is, well, builder's grade. We repainted the cabinets and are doing the flooring but won't be there long enough to justify replacing countertops and doing more expensive upgrades.
