average $$ gift for communion?

what is the going $$ gift for one?  i don't remember last time i was at a communion party

I usually go with a $100 savings bond, which costs $50.

This kind of depends on your relationship to the family and the area you are in.  For non-godparent I stick to the $25 range.  For my goddaughter I did the $25 gift plus a charm for the bracelet I started her as a baby.

For a close friend, I would gift $50

For a neice or nephew, I would give more... $100

It's always a nice touch to get a fresh, crisp fifty or one hundred dollar bill from the bank too

For my husbands little sister, we bought her a cross necklace, totaled $120. If it had been his little cousin (2 years will be his turn) closer to $45-50. Distant relative or friend's child closer to $25-30.
