My first FB defriending

And this is what prompted it...

"Here's a novel thought. Everyone who is speculating, inferring, and basically trying to get the story to fit a particular agenda should shut up and let the investigation play out. Nobody in this forum, none of the activists, celebrities, or any others were there that night. No one knows anything, yet we have a bounty on a man who could very possibly be innocent, or....guilty. WE DON'T KNOW!!!! Leave it to the professionals. NOT the professional race-baiting, Here's a novel thought. Clarification: I did not write this.  I defriended an old friend because she posted this on Facebook.

Re: My first FB defriending

  • All repetitive like that? Wtf? And really, even the others that were there that night? Ugh, I could go on...
  • We all know that Skittles and Iced Tea are in fact threatening.

And HS should be proud that I'm pretty sure my reposting of her blog post last week is what, in part, prompted this woman's tirade.

  • Poverty pimping. Wow. That's a new one.
  • She'd do well to take her own advice and STFU.
    This is my siggy.
  • Someone put this on their FB? Did this person have a new azzhole ripped open for her or did you defriend before finding out? I would love to know if anyone called that one out as being psycho.
    Oh, FFS.
  • My uncle posted last night "I support George Zimmerman. Homeboy got what he deserves."

It made me sick to my stomach to read it. I was so pissed. I unfriended him. Luckily I never see these relatives but last time I unfriended a relative (incidentally this man's son who called President Obama a terrorist and a racial slur), it turned into a big deal in my family. DNA or not, I don't associate with racists.

  • I wrote a piece about this on my website, and I'm hearing back about it, and not int he way I thought I would! To defend this man is reprehensible.

My son is 16. He goes to the store to get iced tea and skittle all the time. I shudder to think if he would not come home one day because some jackazz decided he looked threatening. The point I made on my site is that.. What if Zimmerman was black and Trayvon was a white kid with dimples in the suburbs? Where's the outrage now?

Trayvon's blackness is what go him killed. He would still be alive if he was white, because Zimmerman wouldn't have shot him, wouldn't have followed him, wouldn't have been threatened by him. Race is absolutely an issue.

    We're kind of going out.
  • I keep coming back to this. That entire FB post is so maddening. I have seen the picture of the kid. He looks nothing but friendly and innocent. How anyone could possibly think like the person who wrote (or even copied) it is beyond me. I just can't even fathom it. Zimmerman is not innocent, not in the least. A grown man feeling threatened by a kid walking with candy and iced tea is the worst excuse I have ever heard. How anyone dares to try to claim it wasn't a racially based crime is beyond me. I would have totally defriended anyone who posted that, too.
    Oh, FFS.
  • Did anyone see the article in which Zimmerman's black friend was defending him as not being a racist?

Because if you have black friends, you can't be guilty of racial profiling!

NOT me.  I apologize Melinda and Smace... I didn't bother with the quotes because these guys know me on here and know this is probably the last thing that would ever come out of my mouth (or my head).  I'll go and quote and clear that up in the OP.

I kind of wished I didn't defriend her so I could quickly respond "innocent until proven guilty?  I see Trayvon didn't get that same consideration"... and THEN defriend.  But I didn't think about it until after, once my first wave of nausea and rage subsided.
