DH splurged and got me a gorgeous road bike for my birthday. I have been so excited to really start training for tris, and so I had grand visions of taking it out for a great ride tomorrow morning.
I decided to take it around the block tonight to practice clipping in/out, as I was sure it would be different than in spin class (lol). Within 5 minutes I fell twice & bled through my socks & jacket. Now I'm sitting on the couch popping ibuprofen & sulking about how lame I am. My ankle is so sore I may not even be able to run tomorrow. Aaaugh!!

Re: Well, Sh!tballs!
Thats great advice, thank you. I actually asked them to loosen it during my fitting, but it was still (obviously) kind of tough for me. I smacked my ankle into the side of the pedal, which left me with quite the gash. Ouch! I feel like I'm more mentally scarred than anything though, dang it.

Joenali has good advice about trying it in a grassy field. If you have a stationary trainer, try practice clipping in and out on it a few times before going outside. Your pedal tension or cleats may need to be adjusted.
What kind of bike did you get?

Yes, thanks. I'm going to practice a bit more, and then maybe go in for an adjustment.
