Can you guess the most rented DVD from 2011?

I bet nobody gets it.

There is only one movie that is on both the most Rented DVD's and the most Purchased DVD's and it was Bridesmaids, which is not the #1 rented for the year.       No other movie made both lists, but can you guess which movie was the most rented?

How about the one most purchased, which seems to be an easier guess IMO?

Re: Can you guess the most rented DVD from 2011?

  • I think I saw this somewhere, but of course I can't remember what the answer is.

    Courageous?

  • I'm not even sure which movies came out in 2011..

    ::googles movies released in2011::

    I'm gonna guess X-Men

    Not it.

  • Hmm. Is it Zookeeper? Or We Bought A Zoo.

A movie about a zoo is my final answer.

  • The help?

  • I googled movies that came out in 2011 (because I don't even know what's in theatres now let alone last year)

I vote for one of these:

    Hall Pass
    Gnomeo & Juliet
    Insiduous
    Water For Elephants
    Hangover 2

... because I figure that the most rented movie wouldn't have come out the second half of the year.

  • Yeah, I would probably have to say Water for Elephants as well.

  • I'd guess a movie that's been out for awhile. I have no clue what genre to guess from though.

My gut is telling me to say The Godfather or Scarface.

  • Harry Potter?

I think this might be the case, I don't even know if the winner came out IN 2011, but it has a lot of famous actors in it.

The Hangover 2 is #6 on the Most Bought DVD's list, Transformers is at #9, The Help is on the same list at #10.    None of those made the top 10 Most Rented.

Neither Zoo movie or Water For Elephants made the top 10 lists.

I'll give it till lunchtime and them post results, but keep guessing if you want! :)

    Harry Potter?

Winner for MOST BOUGHT  (Deathly Hallows Part I came in #1 and Part II came in #3)!      I'm telling you, nobody is gonna guess the most rented, it's a toughie!

  • I would have guessed The Help, Water for Elephants, or one of the Twilight or Harry Potter movies.

I'm trying to think of what my mom rented last year. They rarely watch movies and when they do it's always older ones or lesser-known films. So...Salt (mom loves Angelina Jolie), that movie with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler that I can never remember the name of (stepdad is in love with her), and that Vince Vaughn one, Couples Retreat, I think?

You are on the right path.    It's not a blockbuster movie even though it has a list of well known actors in it.     Salt isn't on there but Jolie's "The Tourist" is #7 on The Most Rented, if that helps.

    Pumpkin Eater!

You can't google a guessing game!

Sheshat had it anyway (the Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston)

If that's not it - what about Grown Ups - that one is effin hilarious.

I wouldn't be surprised. I didn't really remember seeing many previews or anything but saw the movie on our tour bus ride thing from our HM resort to Chichen Itza. It was good and I'd recommend it to others.

I rent movies more than I buy. Well, that's because I have officially stopped by movies (but may start once I have kids.. who knows) simply because in my life we've (society) moved from VHS, to DVD, and now Blu-Ray is stepping up, and I wouldn't be surprised by more changes. So with DH's extensive collection, I feel like it's all good.

  • I rented Just Go With it but didn't buy it, so...yeah. I thought it was really funny!
  • Well whatever list you found isn't the same one I'm working with, Just Go With It wasn't on the Top 10... though maybe it is shortly ranked after that?

HERE is the list I was using from LA Times:

    Most rented DVDs of 2011

    1. "Red"

    2. "Due Date

    3. "Little Fockers"

    4. "Unstoppable"

    5. "The Social Network"

    6. "Bridesmaids"

    7. "The Tourist"

    8. "The Lincoln Lawyer"

    9. "The Fighter"

    10. "Dinner for Schmucks"

**Ironically when we cancelled our Netflix membership last fall, RED happened to be one of the 2 DVD's that we had at home and had to send back.   We had it sitting around for more than two weeks and never even watched it!  Now I feel kinda silly that we didn't even give it a viewing but we had just run out of time and had to send it back.

     Thanks to all who played!!

Oooh... it was a really good movie. Hubby and I saw it in the theater because I may or may not have a minor obsession with Bruce Willis.

I saw it in theaters and didn't like it all that much.  I remember there was a scene they did where they actually come to my hometown, and she mispronounced it.  Everyone in the thearter went "uuuuuugh."
