I was going 65mph on the freeway this morning when the SUV in front of me suddenly slammed on their brakes to a dead stop. I slammed on my brakes and instinctively swerved into the other lane, missing their bumper by probably a half an inch. Had there been a car in the other lane, I would have slammed into the side of it, probably caused a chain reaction, and we would have gone over the enbankment.
I've been wracking my brain all morning thinking, "Should I have been further back another car length or something?" But in talking to my co-workers, they all said that I would have had to have been back at least 4 or 5 more car lengths to be able to make a dead stop going 65mph, which is impossible in rush hour traffic because everyone is always cutting in front of you.
In that split second, I actually SAW in my mind my car crunched and rolling over the enbankment.
I've never been so scared in my life.
And in a similar story, my 18 year old brother was on his way to school this morning when a lady blew through a stop sign. He would have T-boned her had he not swerved. He swerved and stopped just inches from a telephone pole.
My parents nearly had to plan a double funeral.
It's times like these that make me believe in God.

Re: I nearly died this morning
I am glad you are okay! That must have been scary.
This takes me back when I rolled over my car and severly smashed half of my car, I decided to believe in God a week after that happened!
Yikes! Glad you're safe!
