is this too matchy-matchy?

These three pieces from World Market -  I love them.  But is all three too much?

The 62" wide media cabinet would go on one side of the fireplace and the tall shelving would go on the other side of the fireplace - so same wall.  The narrower media cabinet would serve as a bookcase to hold our cookbooks off the kitchen, on different wall.

Both kitchen and livingroom are part of one great room, so you would see all 3 pieces in the same space - but it is a fairly large space.  The sofa clearly separates the kitchen from the livingroom.

I don't like matchy-matchy but I like these pieces.  Help!?

Re: is this too matchy-matchy?

  • I like them, but that would be too matchy-matchy for me.   I just think the pieces start to lose some of what makes them interesting, when it all looks the same.

  • They are nice, but they're too matchy-matchy for me. If you don't like matchy-matchy, I don't think you should buy them. You'll probably regret it.
  • The two on the same wall is a good idea.  The third one, not so much.

  • thanks everyone!  I ended up just getting the one for the kitchen as it fits perfectly.  I ordered a very plain media cabinet that should fade in to the background.  Still not sure what to do with the other side of the fireplace.  I'm afraid it'll look too cluttered with the shelves I had in mind.  So next step is to post pics here for some more great advice!

    Thanks again!
