Hunger Games

I feel as though I live under a rock because I know absolutely nothing about the books or the movie.  My 10 year old niece just text me to see if I would take her and her friend to see it on Saturday.  Is that movie age appropriate for 10 year olds?  When Breaking Dawn first came out she begged me to take her to see it and I wouldn't do it because of the sex scenes and she wouldn't talk to me for over a week so I just want to make sure that this is something age appropriate and I can get off her sh!t list.

TIA

Re: Hunger Games

  • Unlike Twlight, there is no sexx in HG...but it could be a bit violent. I'd ask her if she read the books...if she has, then I'd check wtih her parents to see if it's OK to take her.

This.  Although they really did a good job keeping the violence to a minimum considering how much there was in the book.  I suppose if her parents are fine with it, I'd take her.

Considering her parents are MIA most of the time and her and her sister and brother are pretty much being raised by parents (because they have no idea what the HG are either), I figured I'd ask here first.  I'm sure her mother (my sister) couldn't careless and she has little to no contact with her father.  I'm make sure it's ok with her friends parents and go from there.

    Thanks!!

  • There is no sex at all, just a kiss here and there. The violence, they kind of blurred with the camera shaking, but you do see death and blood, but it isn't gory by any means like a horror flick. There is one small part where something jumps at the screen and makes you go WOAH!

I would check with her friends parents first definitely. I love the movie and I also loved the books. If you think she is mature enough for a PG-13 movie.
