What's the height of your headboard?
We have a really high bed, high enough that we joked we needed a step to get in. I'm starting to plan to make a headboard (we don't have one now). The top of the mattress falls just above our standard height chair rail. I feel like most pics of headboards come up just a bit higher. I don't want the entire wall to be headboard, but I feel like a headboard may take up the entire wall.
So, I'm wondering how high a normal headboard goes up (we have no headboard in our house).

Re: What's the height of your headboard?
I'm not sure about normal....we have a really tall, antique iron bed frame/headboard. It stands around 54"-56". Currently, it is around 24" above the top of the mattress, but mattresses used to be shorter, so it was easily 30" higher than the top of the mattress before.
Ours is about shoulder height, but our bed is normal height off the floor and standard thickness (not ultra-plush or anything like that)
Shoulder height? Not all shoulders are the same height. ;p

Okay, okay ... I went and measured. It's 4 ft exactly. And yes, that would imply that I'm short. And I am.
lol. I just measured ours, and it is taller than I thought...it's 57". That is just below chin height for me.
