wwyd w. sunroom?

we have a breakfast room/sunroom off of our open floor plan and have used it for our eating room. we are thinking of making it a sitting room/reading room instead. i love the room, it's all windows and leads to our patio.

wwyd if you had a room like this? keep it as an eating area or make it a reading area? I keep going back and forth.

not sure if that's hard to visualize.

thx!

Re: wwyd w. sunroom?

  • At my parents house the sun room off the back of the house was my sewing room growing up. It was also filled with my plants. (Mom has a black thumb)  I loved all the natural light. It was a great space.

  • Lucky you! I would make it a sitting room so I could enjoy it more.

  • Ours is a playroom because of it's convenience off the kitchen and it's size. We have it heavily baby proofed. Ours opens to the deck. If we didn't need it for a sunroom it would probably be a reading room or sitting room as well.
  • If you have a dining room or dinette area that you can use to eat in everyday, I'd use the sunroom as a sitting/reading room!

we have had our table in there, a farmhouse style table. we just moved it out parallel to the sunroom/bumpout (not even sure what to call it, lol) and it looks pretty good. i wasn't sure if it would look cluttered b.c our house is very open. it goes kitchen, then dining/ eating area, then our great room, which has 30 ft ceilings.

we have a front room that we use for a playroom. Which when we get our basement finished this summer we will move that to down there. My piano is in there and we'll probably make that either into our office or another seating area.

thx for the ideas! i love the room & am thinking it would make a great reading/sitting area. my dc plays in the backyard w his friends all the time so the more i think about it, it's prob the perfect area to sit down and read while keeping an eye on them.
