Maybe its because I read the book first, but, I felt like the movie was a little too much.
I love romantic movies, and the movie had a little too much drama for my taste...the exFI, the Father...it was too much drama for a 1hr45min movie.
Maybe there's only so much of her coma you could add until it becomes pedantic, but couldn't they have went into detail of how they met instead of making her accident/coma the entire first part of the movie?
I like how "Remember Me" was. They didnt focus on the 9/11 tragedy, but made a whole story about this love story of a boy and girl. IMHO this would have been a great timeline for The Vow.

Re: The Vow - Movie.
I'm not sure how a movie about a near fatal car accident could be more light hearted. It was a drama, so, not sure why it being dramatic is a drawback either.
It wasn't a romantic comedy - nor was it marketed that way.
Maybe not light hearted/comedy driven, but there was more to their story than just the accident; Adding the Father's Issues and the exFIL is a little too "much" drama for me to follow.

I hated this movie! I felt like I was watching Channing Tatum get kicked in the face for two hours.
I don't think it was a twist of fate that she became the person she used to be. I think the point of the movie is that she really always was that person to begin with.
ha ha. This is what annoyed me!
Agree. I hated this movie.
