Can you plant flowers in these and put on the house? PIP

I bought a few of these today and wanted to hang on the house outside and put flowers in them. Is this possible? Maybe drill a hole in bottom so water can get out when watering??

Is that metal? It will rust. It might also leach compounds into the plant roots (maybe not a big issue, I don't know). And yes they need to be able to drain, but they might leak- have you tried putting water in them? Metal planters tend to be leaky. If they leak a lot, they already drain, so you don't need to drill holes; BUT keep in mind that when they drain, they could create streaks of mud or rust on the side of your house, so be cautious.

  • I would be wary of putting anything wet against my house. It would be really easy to have moisture seep in under your siding and cause mold problems.
