Cheaper Alternatives to Natural Balance

Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a dog food comparable to *** Van Patton's Natural Balance?  I feed my lab mix the Natural Balance ultra and would like to continue feeding her a great quality food but without the huge pricetag if at all possible.  It seems like everytime I buy the 30 pound bag it has gone up and its now over $50.

I have heard some people recommend Cosco natural dog food and mention that it is cheaper than NB.  Is it a good quality food comparable to NB?

TIA

Re: Cheaper Alternatives to Natural Balance

  • Taste of the Wild - It's about $40 for 30 pounds. Also, if you have a Costco membership, you could check out their Nature's Domain grain free food - I think it's about $33 for 35 pounds.
  • I would figure out how much each meal costs and that will let you see what is truly cheaper. We used to feed Natural Balance but we changed to ACANA Pacifica. Because we feed less of the ACANA (it is more nutrient dense than NB) it only costs a little bit more per day to feed a higher quality food.

I think most people on this board would recommend Nature's Domain grain free as a good quality affordable dog kibble.

Costco is good for the price.  Canidae is good.  Chicken soup for the dog lovers soul is good.

  • Nature's Domain at Costco.  Ours has two flavors (a red and a blue bag - I forget which is which).  They are about $35 for 33 pounds I think?
