I got some white dinnerware about 4 years ago from JCP. I got a
really good deal on it at the time, but now it seems that the glaze is
coming off it spots, though I can be sure. Plus, I am running out of
plates (some have broken) and many have chips. Plus, I need to get some
serveware. I love PB's Great White collection dinnerware (as I said recently, I am not usually a PB girl, but they have come out
with a lot of things I like as of late) and serveware, but it is a bit
pricey. These are the styles I like in the GW collection that I like,
but can't decide which one I like best. Can you suggest some look a likes elsewhere? Where did you get your white dinnerware?
Re: White dinnerware-where did you get yours?
BBB. It's china, so it cracks and chips easily, but its okay. The unfortunate thing is that they only carry some of our pattern now. Not all of it.
In the future I'll buy whiteware at a restaurant supply company, though. Sturdy, standard-sized, and easily replaceable.
We got ours at Crate and Barrel and love it. Ours are white with tiny raised [white] dots.
Here's a link to their dinner plates- lots of white options.

I have the White Pearl dinnerware from C&B too. Ours are about five years old and I need to replace a few things but nothing major.
As soon as C&B has their next sale on dinnerware, we are buying this set.
I noticed a display of really pretty white dinnerware at Target the other day. We have cereal bowls from IKEA that we love...we've had them five years probably, and no chips.
$30 for 18 pieces...can't beat that!
Crate & Barrel "Halo". We've had it since October '07 and it looks brand new! NO chips, cracks, staining.....nothing! The guy at the store recommended it for its durability and classic look. We LOVE our dishes!
Me, too. Plain white Corelle.
I love it. I have tons of it and can set a table for 25 and still have plates left. A friend also bought some after she saw mine dressed up at Christmas. It is easy to dress up or dress down.
It is so inexpensive that I can have as many pieces as I want. They are flatter so they don't take a lot of space in the cabinet. We have a corelle outlet nearby and I am going to buy some rice bowls one of these days soon.
I don't think I've broken a piece in years. If I do, it is easily replaceable.
Here is ours. It's Sophie Conran for Portmeirion in white from BB&B & Belk. We've used it for about a year now and it has held up without any chips/scratches/etc. It's white but has a bit of a pottery-like texture compared to your pics.
Ikea. We have over 80 dinner plates and small plates, along with 20 or so bowls, that we bought for one daughter's wedding reception. It cost us less than renting them would have.
We use them for holidays if we have more people than our everyday dishes can handle, and they get used/loaned out for showers, birthdays parties, rehearsal dinners, etc.. They have held up remarkably well, especially considering how much they have been hauled around. I don't think any of them have been broken, none have been chipped.
I actually bought the Caterers Dinnerware set from PB, because, as another poster mentioned, the Great White plates were huge.
I LOVE these plates.
I'm not easy on my plates, bang them around, I dropped one on the counter recently and the thing didn't even chip. I have no idea how they fire these things, but they're super durable and very pretty. Never thought I'd be so happy about plain white plates. Plus, at 12 plates for $49, hardly feel like I broke the bank or I'd be gutted if one broke.
ETA I did buy the cereal bowls from the Great White collection, because I like a nice, deep bowl and the Caterer ones were a bit shallow.
Ours is Canopy by WalMart, when a piece breaks I can buy another without getting another set.
Another vote for Ikea here. My every day dishes are Fiestaware, but for those times I just want white I got plates & bowls at Ikea for like $1.00 each. I've never broken a single one, which has actually surprised me. I didn't think they'd hold up nearly as well as they have. My app. & salad plates came from C&B and the two styles look great together.
We have PB Great White and are really happy with them. We've had the dishes since 2006 (wedding shower), had to exchange a few right away because of some chips (PB was great about it) and have only lost one saucer since then. I love, love, love the mugs and cereal bowls!
The dinner plates are huge, and we honestly don't use them much for that reason. The "salad" plates are perfect for most meals. We try to remember to use the bigger ones when we have steak and other meals that could use extra room, but we're so used to the salad plates we usually forget.
If I were getting white dishes I would definitely get them from William Sonoma.
I have this set from Macys, two sets actually. It's held up pretty well. I got a replacement piece plus additional pieces from replacements.com
