eclaires and other fashionistas!

I've been looking for low-heeled leather boots in red for as long as I can remember.

Well, I found a pair, Frye's even, for a great price... but they're pull-ons, which makes me worry they'll be bulkyish...

Here they are:

Re: eclaires and other fashionistas!

  • I am so biased, I LOVE my Fryes.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.  I have the Paige in Tan.  I'm obsessed.  Mine are also pull on and not bulky at all.

    Get them!

  • If you have been wanting a pair for a while, I'd say go for them. They've got a classic look to the style with the fun color element.

Do you plan to wear under or over bottoms? Or just with skirts?

  • Great price - you can always return them if you don't like them.

That said, I have always had a problem with Frye's bunching around the ankles. Especially the pull ons. I don't know if it's cause my feet are so big (9.5-10) or what. I've had a really hard time finding boots this year because of it. There is a site - i forget which one - which actually shows you models walking in the shoes. It's very helpful to determine if the boot will be bunchy or not (I'll try and remember what site...).

ETA: SIte i was thinking of was heels.com. Looks like Zappos used to have a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQF9MalV5eI

I'd wear them with skirts and under bottoms (I love wearing boots with wide legged pants).

I generally never wear  boots over pants. I'm definitely overweight, and for the most part I don't think that boots over pants look good if you're overweight.

I ordinarily try to wear pants that are at least as wide at the cuff as they are at the knee. I know that skinny jeans are in and whateverwhatever, but I don't think they look good on me.

...but I do have a pair (bought on sale at a moment of weakness) and might just break down and wear the boots outside of them, with a tunic-style shirt or even a dress over...

  • I have 2 pairs of Fryes (one pull on, one not) and I love, love, LOVE them.  Like more than my husband love them. I say do it.

Also, Frye's ballet flats are the comfiest, most amazing flats.

    Sadie is not impressed.

Cool. I think they'd work under jeans, and skinny jeans don't suit everyone's fancy. No biggie. :)

They'd be super cute with skirts.

Try out outfits that you're unsure about in the house. If things bunch or do things you don't want, then you know how it would go when you're out and about.  The tunic style shirt sounds cute too.

  • They're out in my size.  Crying

Rumor has it that they run big. Do Frye's run so big that I could get away with a half size smaller than I usually wear?
