Stolen from ML: What would you do with lottery winnings?
Since I live where the 500million$ mega millions lotto can be played (and I played)... What would you do with this $ if you won?!

Re: Stolen from ML: What would you do with lottery winnings?
Hmm...well, I'd buy a Tesla. Then I'd build a nice house, buy some property in Hawaii, move back to Michigan, set up funds for my siblings, Aunt Linda, mom, and grandma. I'd also give J's parents a bunch of money.
I'd travel a lot and then I'd adopt a couple of kids
#1- not tell a soul, including H until I secured a financial planner and lawyer. H has the biggest mouth ever and everyone would know if I told him right off the bat.
Then I'd tell H and swear him to secrecy.
Quit my job and pretend to land a great high-paying job. Actually get a personal trainer and work my butt off so I had a kick-azz body. Figure out something to do with the remaining work day.
Start a rescue shelter for abused dogs. Of course, no one in my family or my friends could know because I will still not have told anyone about my winnings.
Deposit large amounts of $ into families checking accounts. Not tell them it was from me. Play along someone did this for me as well.
Travel, for work of course
Travel
Travel
After traveling decide where I would want properties. Then I have no idea. Figure out a business to invest in or start to keep me busy. Probably some type of fundraising.
Quit my job!
Buy a big house for me and hubby (and pay off my parents house and set them up so they can retire - hubby's family too!)
Then I would foster dogs - as many as reasonable at a time. And give lots of money to my favorite rescues.

With one million, we'd pay off our debts, go on a few vacations I've always wanted to go on, buy a house, and have an awesome savings account.
This is the best ever! I want to change mine to this!
And we are totally lotto-winning-animal-rescue soulmates!
I
you!

I forgot, I'd shop for a ton of clothes, shoes, purses, and sunglasses and build a closet that Carrie Bradshaw would be jealous of.
I'd do some philanthropic and charity stuff, but you guys? I'd live good, too.
I would quit my job
build a new house somewhere else
Buy a vacation house somewhere where there is water and sand
Get a new car
Pay off my parents' bills (his parents don't have any debt)
Travel
Pay off student loans
(I just realized I may be boring.)
I would NOT quit my job. That's a common mistake among lotto winners and they often end up in terrible financial trouble. As for what I WOULD do:
1. Donate money to several charities (spread the love)
2. Pay off my student loans
3. Buy some land and build a house on it
4. Buy new furniture, appliances, and decor to fill said house
5. Buy a new car each for DH and myself
6. Give some money to each of our sets of parents
7. Put the leftovers in savings accounts for retirement
My Blog
Besides the obvious things like new house, car, travel and such... If I am quitting my job then I will find a way to invest a chunk of the money so that I get a ROI steadily. I'm thinking of buying a sports team, or buying out a business whose products/services interest me (defninitely NOT snuggies
). Something I wouldn't mind be actively involved in at the top level, but can leave alone to let thrive.
I would also have financial advisors to make sure I didn't get too stupid or crazy, and definitely dish out some charity dough.
And last but not least, I would begin plans to build a BNOTB retirement home for all the lovely ladies here and their spouses (if they can keep up with us!) so that when we are all old and over the age of 70, all our childless wrinkled butts can keep eachother company and cackle, drink, toke the days away in person, since we'll probably be too blind to see a computer or too tired to type out posts.
I would buy a lake or beach front property, E would hire the best band members and tour Europe and Japen, and I would pay off my sisters (grandma's house)
can I be one of them?
Obvi.
My office went in on it, hopefully we win!
Anyway, first I would find myself a damn good lawyer and financial advisor.
I would invest a good bit of it, stick a lot in savings, pay off our house/car/credit cards etc. and go to Hawaii. At first I would just take a vacation, but we'd move there eventually and get me a nice house right on the ocean.
I would also help my *immediate* family with some of their bills as well. My extended family is a big old mess that could be on Jerry Springer, so I probably wouldn't give jack to any of them.
I'd also give some to charity, of course, particularly animal rescue ones.
Pay off our house
Tell my job to shove it!!!
Pay off our parents houses
Invest the majority off the rest of it ( leaving some out for fun money of course)

My office went in on it too! We sent my boss up to Idaho to buy our tickets, lol.
Quit THIS job, but not quit working. I would pursue something I love to do, because I wouldn't have to worry if they could only give me part time, or minimum wage.
I would spend a lot of time with my dad in Alaska, visit often until he wasn't here anymore. I'd help him out with bills, take care of the cleaning and all that, and get him out of the house doing stuff he enjoys (but has a hard time doing alone).
I'd buy a farm house out in the country, because I'm starting to love living out there. Nothing big, nothing fancy, just something I fell in love with that had some land.
I'd do some traveling, foster dogs, pay off my mom's house, spend a little fun money, and put a whole bunch of it into an account to accrue money.

I would call a lawyer and a financial adviser/planner. I would invest a large chunk of it into the stock market, IRAs, etc. for both H and I.
I would pay off my parent's house, their cars, fix up their property a little, give them extra spending cash.
I would pay off SIL/BILs house and car, set up a savings account for my nephew with enough money for him to go to college, trade school, or get a car when he turns 18.
I would do the same for my brother and his wife and kids, but they have no house payment.
I would buy us 1,000+acres somewhere in Texas, build H the car shop of his dreams, create a beautiful kitchen for me (professional kitchen), a kick ass sewing room, and a beautiful bathroom for us to soak in.
I would rent this house out, to make sure I had a steady income.
I would start working from home and force H to get his FFL so he can manufacture and sell guns.
I would buy us a car or five. We would travel and have vacation homes all over the place.
A lot of the money would be invested and saved, just in case
First, quit my job and tell everyone here to eff off! haha.
Then get on the first plane to Hawaii and hang out at the Grand Wailea for about a month doing nothing but sit by the pool/beach drinking mai tai's.
Then come back home and figure out what to do with all my money!
S bought tickets in Boston and at home, so maybe my odds are a little better?
I would pay off my debt (mortgage, student loans, etc), give some to my parents and ILs, probably sell our current house and build a new one on more land. I would invest in somewhat conservative funds and ideally live off of the interest so S and I could travel and do whatever.
