(Warning: Whining ahead.)
In addition to all the sinus crap I have going on, I seem to have picked up a migraine on Tuesday. Ugh. It came on after I rode Tuesday night. Went away after some Amerge and Advil. Came back Wed. morning. Went away after more Amerge, caffeine, and Advil. Came back last night, and just will not go away despite an Imitrex injection an hour ago, more stuff from my bag of migraine tricks, more caffeine (limit of 30 mg/time), and Advil. Ugh!
I have a call into my neurologist. Usually I can kick it with prednisone. Yeah, that's not working either.
This may be related to the sinus crap, too. I noticed that when I used one of the nasal sprays, I got an ocular migraine. I've stopped but wonder if that set this one off.
I want to ride tonight. WHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Migraine: Coming up on 48 hours
I'm a longtime migraine sufferer as many here on H&F know and am pretty used to them lasting a few days. The head pain is what's killing me on this one. I typically get only mild head pain and more of the other symptoms like sound & light sensitivity, fatigue, etc.
I already take magnesium as well as several preventatives (Namenda and Calan/verapamil.). I've been working with my neuro for over 10 years. I typically avoid caffeine at all costs other than the occasional caffeinated unsweet tea EXCEPT when I have a migraine. Caffeine speeds the absorption rate of some meds (ie why caffeine is included in aspirin pills). It's been part of my migraine "routine" for years.
I'm just whining.....

This was what I was going to suggest as well. I saw a dramatic decrease in my migraines after I started getting adjusted.
Sorry buddy.
I hope you feel better soon! It's too bad you are cycling on the meds

No word from the neuro, but I called really late in the day. I'll call again tomorrow. At least my head isn't pounding at this moment.
I have my surgery follow up w/the ENT tomorrow. I have a feeling that the migraines are being triggered by something he prescribed. I've been on SO much stuff. I'd been good for several months (as good as they get for me). I already took myself off of everything except Zantac and the antibiotic as of Tuesday when I got the migraine. I cannot come off of the antibiotic right now--at all. No way. Anyway, I can't find headache/migraine listed in its side effects. I am going to stop the Zantac tomorrow. That will put me back on everything I normally take plus just the antibiotic (and prednisone to try to kill this thing--but I do that under my neuro's care).
I may call the chiro tomorrow to see if he can work me in; we'll see. I've done some in the past for migraines (said chiro is also a mountain biker and understands cyclists). I'm not a huge chiro person but for whatever reason I get a little relief from ART when done on my neck and shoulders even if it's the placebo effect. I'll take anything at this point.
PS Thanks for the support and letting me whine!

Awww...sadlebred, I hope you get some relief soon. That sounds just horrible. I
've been lucky to only have 2 migraines the entire pregnancy (many smaller headaches, though) and it really sucks to not be able to take my go-to Zomig. Feel better.
