Halloween last night...

I ended up dressing up in my witch costume, which DH didn't like, but I had so much fun.  We(I) had some great Trick or Treaters who said "Happy Halloween" and "Thank you". One even told me I was the only one in the neighborhood who was in the spirit and dressed up.  Just the fact that he noticed and said something made me realize that in addition to parents having to go with their kids for protection, Halloween just isn't so fun for kids these days like it was for us.  We use to go out by ourselves and come back home by a certain time.  I'm happy I could help make it more fun for those kids.

Re: Halloween last night...

  • I know what you mean.  We had a Halloween party at our house last night, and we went all out.  I had spooky Halloween music playing as the kids walked up our entrance...along with a big ghost and an assortment of pumpkins by the door.  I love it!  I also had those fake spider webs on the dining chairs and light fixture above the table, with little ghosts hanging from it.  I'm such a dork, but I love decorating.  I'll have pics on my blog pretty soon.

We had a lot more trick-or-treaters last year than we did this year...I wonder why?  The kids were all very polite, though...they pretty much all said "thank you," and they looked so cute all dressed up.

  • This was our second Halloween in our neighborhood, and we had a great turnout of trick or treaters....most all of them said "Trick or Treat" or "Happy Halloween"...and several did say "Thank you". And we only got a few who I felt might have been too old to be out...so they only got one piece of candy. :)

I am still under the weather, so I am sure I was not as festive as I would usually be...but it is still great fun to see the kids come and go...I love Halloween...

  • We had a good turnout, but they came late. They were super cute though. Maybe one or two of them were a tad over the age to be out but since my 24 year old son was wishing he could go and sad that he couldn't, I guess I tried to be nice and gave them lots more than Lauren did. LOL. I did a lot of decorating outside, hanging pumpkins with glowing faces, I carved a couple of watermelons that were cute and kind of looked like aliens with their green faces. It was fun to watch the young parents doing the things I had done so long ago and enjoying it like I did. Love, love, love, Halloween.
  • no kids on the black at all. all of the houses were dark.
  • We had a great turnout!  We live in a fairly large neighborhood.....and police have to help with the traffic flow to the parts of the subdivision that you can drive in....then you have to park and walk the rest of the way.  It is about 4 solid hours of non~stop kids.

Most everyone in the community goes all out for the little trick~or~treaters!  We decorate the heck out of our houses....and several people make neat haunted houses out of their garages for the kids to walk through!  I think we went through about 5 of the lb. bags of candy!!  We did have a few kids that were a little too old...but most all of the kids were very polite :)  Seeing all those little ones having so much fun helps re~kindle my Halloween spirit :)

  • We were traveling during part of the night and then were at my parents house---they didn't have any come while we were there (we arrived about 7:30)...so it just doesn't seem like Halloween has come yet--we usually have quite a few....

Lauren-I know what you mean about the kids being too old to trick or treat-a couple of years ago some came to our door that we felt were too old and they weren't dressed up (just had pillow cases to collect candy), well they said something rude to dh when he opened the door and he immediately shut the door on them and turned out the light!
