Puppies being sold before 8 weeks of age?

There is an add on my local craigslist with 6 week old puppies listing that they need to "get rid of them" asap. I would link you to the add but I'm sure it will be flagged soon - however, is there a way to report these people? I know it is against the law in PA to sell a puppy under 8 weeks old, but I don't know how to go about reporting it. They have 9 of these babies, and it'd be a shame to see them taken away from mom today :(

  • You'd probably have to find out their name, address, etc. then file a complaint with the Department of Agriculture.

This. Or maybe call a local shelter and see if they have any ideas as well. Poor pups. Dang backyard breeders!

  • I've seen puppies go at 6 weeks before...usually small dogs.  I thought it was ok if they were small breeds...guess that's not the case?  I'm a Doberman owner and I know big dogs should stay with the mom until about 10 weeks but once I saw new owners carrying around their 6 week old Doberman.  Poor thing didn't even look old enough to crawl yet.

Sorry I don't have any real advice.  I didn't know that it can be reported.

  • I would contact them as if you are interested in buying a puppy, then contact the department of agriculture.  Get a screen shot of the ad.

  • Craigslist pisses me off so badly. I refuse to go on that site anymore.
