Moving with a cat...

Dh and I are moving a fair distance away from where we currently live. (20 hr drive split over 2 days)

Now we have made with drive 3 times in the past with our cat, so she is pretty used to the traveling.

But this time it seems a little different. She normally doesn't like to be around either DH or I unless we are in bed, then she will come and lay with us, But right now she will not leave either of us alone. It has made the packing this time very hard. This will be our last move in a very long time as we bought the house we are moving into.

Is there anything I can do to make her feel more comfortable with this move? Like I said she normally is fine will car ride and everything. I don't know what to do.

Re: Moving with a cat...

  • When we moved to a new home, we got a feliway diffuser, and it really helped our two stubborn kitties to adjust.  And time.  Give her some time.  Our cats did in fact become more clingy since we moved, and that was two years ago!

  • Our cats love the feliway diffuser.  They also make it in collar form and you can put that on her so she has it with her int he car and new house too.  Rescue remedy in her water can't hurt either.
