DH and I are closing on a house in June, and we need to paint the entire interior (walls, ceilings, door, trim) as the previous owner was a smoker. We are talking to a painter later tonight. He is friendly with my SIL and has painted her house twice before, and offered his services (but we plan to get several estimates).
Anyway, I always thought Benjamin Moore paint was the way to go, with the you get what you pay for mentality, but I have heard that people have been satisfied with Sherwin Williams and the new Behr Ultra.
The painter used BM the first time he painted SIL's house, but this time, he apparently used Behr because he supposedly likes it better (per SIL). She repainted for a color change, not because the walls needed it.
I haven't talked to the painter yet, but through google searches I have read that some painters don't like painting with the new BM aura line (I guess because of how quickly it dries), so they are using other brands. I'm not sure if thats what this painter is doing or not, and won't know until I talk to him why he likes Behr.
What brand do you ladies recommend? We are using the Kilz primer as she was a smoker so we need to seal the walls.
Re: Your favorite paint brand-need to paint entire interior and looking for recommendations
I like Valspar. Don't miss this offer on Amazon!

Happy painting...
Do you like both regular Behr and Behr Ultra, or just the Ultra?
I really like SW's paint and have used them for every inch of paint in my house. The Harmony, Duration, and ProClassic lines are all good.
But is this guy a pro? If he is he might not going to want to use any of these companies. Brands that cater and advertise to pros more than DIYers usually give the best contractor discounts. Around here that is Hallman Lindsay and Mautz Paint. Once you get to a high quality paint level they are all basically the same when it comes to durability. He will have a strong opinion on which brand is the best but not because one is so much more superior than the other. Painter's preferences are normally based on what shop has the best customer service and what brand gives them the most bang for their buck. Just explain that you want a high end paint that is very durable and see what he suggests. DH's grandfather was a painter and this is what he always recommended.
We have numerous investment homes and always use Behr for paint. I've also used Behr for our own home. We used Valspar once, but did not like it at all.
The builder of our new construction home in Florida uses Sherwin Williams.
A painting contractor that I worked with years ago in an apartment complex, said BM was best.
Maybe get some of those little sample containers of each and see which one you like best.
I believe he is a pro (I'll see how much so this evening). I never thought of that with the band names-thank you.
We have used Behr and have no complaints, they even color matched a few colors from Benjamin Moore.
We used Restoration Hardware paint in the nursery and loved how it turned out.
