Spotify

Does anyone use this?  I just signed up for the free 48-hour period and while I swore I'd never again pay for access to music other than when I actually purchase a song, I'm intrigued by the idea of having access to all of this music at any time without having to buy it.

Re: Spotify

  • I use the free Spotify, and I really like it. You only have to pay if you want to!

  • So there is a "free forever" option?  Does it limit you to a certain number of hours per month?
  • If there is, I haven't reached it. However, every few songs there are ads, just like Pandora.
  • Thanks for the feedback!  I'd read conflicting things and the website didn't clear it up for me so I appreciate the help.
  • Now that my 48-hour trial period has ended, I have figured out the source of my confusion: it's free on a PC but not through the phone app. Unfortunately I want it on my phone so I am out of luck.
  • We've paid for Spotify for years and love it. I think the PC software is better on Rhapsody, because I like to explore new music, but Rhapsody mobile only works in the US, so we use Spotify on the phone/iPad. In general I love subscription music. I don't need space to store CDs or disk space to store mp3s. And when I have friends over, we can listen to whatever they want. Usually we all just leave Spotify open at each other's flats, and anyone can add what they want to the queue. (moving or deleting from the queue is considered a faux pas) A lot of people used thefreeversion for years, but now I think everyone I know pays for it, since it's not very expensive, and the mobile access is a nice addition.
