Opinion needed: sink in island or corner of counter
making a decision today on this (building a home)
should i keep the sink in island or put it along the counter...in the corner area ..where it makes an 'L'?
Re: Opinion needed: sink in island or corner of counter
I'm on the same train as FF. I hate hate hate having my back to everyone when doing dishes & a corner sink is the worst option for that. The only one I've seen that I semi liked was a corner sink that had two huge windows above it. I like how sinks in islands look but I don't think it's very functional.
Is putting it somewhere along the counter (not in corner) an option still?
I decided on the island - a few friends have it there and i like it better, plus the dishwasher is next to it so everyting can just go in there. i never leave anyhthing in sink - pet peeve of mine
thanks for your input
My brother has that same set up and it works very well for he and his family.
I don't know what your plan for the island is, but if you're planning for bar seating on one side of it you could have a 12" rise that would prevent stuff on the "counter" side from being visible from the other side. Unless you stack them higher than 12", which at our house would be a possiblity. :-P In the latest edition of my kitchen reno plans, we're doing a "peninsula" between the kitchen and dining room that will be 24" deep on the kitchen side with sink and dishwasher, and then another 18" deep at a higher level on the dining room side for cabinets.
