Cellular Shades - Any recs?

I really need to get something on the windows of the two bedrooms upstairs.  We don't have close neighbors so I don't have a lot of window treatments.  I have used faux wood blinds in the small bedroom/office on the main level but I'm thinking of cellular shades for upstairs.  For now, while we have no children up there. I will keep them pulled a lot, especially to keep the sun out in the summer.  Others have recommended them to me.  Would you also?  Any other suggestions?

Re: Cellular Shades - Any recs?

  • I have white blackout Levelor cellular blinds in my bedroom. I looked online, then decided it was best to order through Lowes. I went in, and the sales associate let me know that they had them in stock and could cut to size (for FREE!). As much as I have D&Rd, I had no idea. This option was less than 1/2 the price of ordering through the store and probably 1/3 the price of ordering another brand online. They have a variety of sizes, lengths and colors; it might be worth checking out.

Also, FWIW one of the shades stopped functioning properly within a month or two. I returned it, no questions asked and had a replacement (and didn't have to take down the brackets, which was helpful). The associate mentioned that they do have a high number of broken shades returned, but I haven't had issues with the other 4 in the room.
