I am just a lurker here, but I just wanted to say that I cannot imagine that your Napolean could not know how much you loved him. This story brought me to tears. What a strong person you are, and how lucky he was to have you there loving him and feeding him treats during his last few minutes. Now he is running free, enjoying as many Mcdonald's cheeseburgers as he can and no longer suffering. I dread the day we have to go through this we are sweet, loving boy. They are truly members of the family and a loss you never get over. Praying for you, your husband, and Max.

This made me tear up. Our family dog was a month shy of 17 when we had to put her down... I held her head in my hands as she went. I know when my heart dog goes, hopefully a long long time from now, I will feel like you do now.  You and your family have my best wishes as you go through this time. I am sure he knew how much you loved him.
