Got my election day assignment

Holy crap, I'm seriously in the hood. I figured I'd be in the inner city, but the H just looked up the crime statistics for the area. In about a 5-block radius, there have been 47 car thefts and 34 assaults in the last year.

I'm not worried about my safety because there will be so many extra people around due to the election (and because I know that most violent crimes occur between people who know each other). It's just really sad to read about the statistics and know that elementary-age kids are going to school right in the middle of this.

It'll be interesting to see if the GOP tries to challenge a lot of the voters.

That sounds like a fascinating assignment.  You'll have to tell us how it goes.  I bet there's going to be a lot of voter challenging.

We'll see. I know that the election chiefs have the authority to kick out anyone who is an abusive challenger, meaning somebody who just stands there and challenges people with no real basis. I hope things go OK. I am supposed to be there until 1pm, so maybe I'll have a chance to report on it once I get back to the office.
