HELP - SHIPPING WEDDING CHINA & CRYSTAL??

I really need some advice from people who have gone through the moving process, to get into their homes. Due to husband's job, we are relocating from Arizona to Ohio ... in a few weeks! We are pretty much leaving everything here (don't have much of value) except what we can fit into suitcases and ship (e.g. clothing), and then taking flights out (we have a 9 month old with us). We are shipping the cars, but can't put anything in the trunk that will break.

Question is ... the only thing I wish to take is my wedding china/crystal which is super fragile, and sentimental. I heard that "Pak Mail" is a company that will ship such things ... but, any idea how much it runs for a full set of 12 plates, saucers, etc, etc.? Any better ideas on how to get that stuff to another state without it breaking??! HELP!

Re: HELP - SHIPPING WEDDING CHINA & CRYSTAL??

  • I would take it to the UPS store and have them ship it to the UPS store nearest to your new home.  The store to store option is great, you just go pick it up, and if any pieces cracked you're right there to make the claim.  Because they packed it and shipped it any breakage is their fault, no argument.

I like this suggestion.  Definitely let them pack it because I had an issue with an eBay purchase where the seller had not packed the item very well, it arrived broken, and UPS said it wasn't their fault because they didn't ship it.
