More Google Translate <3

"If you're independizas being substitute in the balance, because since cobras do not come back in June to be paid until November."

It should be "because you don't earn any money between June and November."
Since it's talking about Spanish substitute teachers, it made me laugh about DH's situation. Now I'll think of summer as the months without cobras.

Thanks Google Translate!

Re: More Google Translate <3

  • HAHA!  No te cobras I assume is what it was tring to translate.  That's pretty great.

We translated our entire housing contract from German to English on google translate.  Some things were rather odd and whatever didn't translate correctly we asked the HR woman at his work who is helping us with the move to clarify. Nothing as fun as that one though!

It's really great google translate and things like that exist though because paying translators can be crazy! Our housing contract was 19 pages and we looked into getting it translated and the guy was going to charge us over 700 euros.  So yay google translate, even if it's not able to translate everything perfectly.

  • I love it when I tell my students not to use online translation services and they go ahead and do it any way. At least they hand in some really funny stuff.

Here's a fun one which happened in a coworker's class. They were writing about the UN and handed in a paper talking about Ban Ki-luna.

  • BTW, did you apply for the job?

  • No. I threw in the towel when I e-mailed the Madrid consulate and they said spousal visa wait times are around 1 year.

Yeah. I replied asking about the K3 visa (which, in all honesty, I hardly understand) and they gave me the super helpful reply of: "If your husband travels to the United States to live there, he needs to enter with the appropriate immigrant visa." Tongue Tied

It's job choice #2 for me. It's fun!

  • I love the mental image of the cobras lining up to get their paychecks!

...because in my head they're happy smiling cobras with big friendly eyes instead of the real thing, which would creep the heck out of me.
