Grilled cheese w/ mayo instead of a butter was a HIT

Thanks to whoever posted that tip! The kids and DH loved it! And we rarely have butter out to use as a spread so using mayo was so much easier too. It was kind of funny because DH actually just gave up mayo (he was using it all the time and on everything) but he had to try this and is excited to look forward to this as a rare "treat."

I tried this and it tasted funky to me (used real mayo). I think I'll stick with butter.

I so need to try this.  Do you just spread the mayo on the sides that you grill?  Curious.

I've also used it in a pinch to make garlic bread, instead of butter.

I agree. I used light mayo and still could taste it (I'm not a mayo fan in the first place).

I just put mayo on the sides I grilled. I used full fat mayo. Can't speak for the taste myself (or compare to butter)- I don't personally eat mayo, butter, cheese or sandwich bread! LOL But it looked pretty and like I said DH and my kids loved it.
