NDR Do you ever have one of those days..

.. where you just feel like screaming, crying AND giving up?

I am totally having one of those days. DS got waitlisted for the school we wanted to get him into (and the district we are trying hard to move to) and so I'm freaking out about the what-ifs. What if they don't find him a place in August, what if we don't get moved by then so we don't have to fight out-of-district transfers, what if we end up having to enroll him here and no one can work out a schedule to pick him up (no bus service in our district)? I felt like I was close to panic attack this morning.

On top of that, I looked into the income requirements for WIC (you know, where you just get healthy, supplemental food -- mostly looking incase I have to formula supplement when I go back to work and have a wonky work schedule that's due to needing to pick up DS from school) and we make $300 too much to qualify. $300. That's it.

I need a freakin' raise AND a vacation. Or that winning lottery ticket (SO CLOSE but it wasn't me or I'd be having a blast D&R'ing a nicer house).

Re: NDR Do you ever have one of those days..

  • Have you called the school to find out how far down the waitlist he is?  There might be things you can do to get him moved up. The second you have a contract on a house in that district go to the school and let them know so that hopefully he will be bumped up.

Hope everything smooths out soon! If it makes you feel any better I sat on a thorn yesterday.  I was dancing around in front of FI for 5 minutes pinching at my butt to get it out and he didn't understand because the 4 wheelers were loud. Yeah....I love the woods.

  • Nope, all we can do is hope. They require a letter of intention (why you want to transfer them into the district) and I told them my SIL lives in-district and cares for him during daytime hours currently and will after school and will also care for his sibling and that we have been trying to move in-district for about 4 months but haven't found the right home for our family yet. So we're stuck. :(

  • Oohh that sucks!

I hope the school works out. If not do you have a friend in the district you don't want him in that could help out or make friends with a classmate's mom to help you out?

As for WIC do you have access to a public health nurse? (Where I live everyone gets a visit by them no matter income level etc.) After the first visit you can have them come back as much or little as you want. They are great for getting people signed up for WIC that are just over the income guidelines or have other circumstances not in the general WIC guideline. We didn't qualify for WIC at all but she found scores of formula coupons and samples for me which was so so helpful. I'm just throwing that out there. Our OB suggests/pretty much forces the health nurse, so maybe ask yours.

  • My boss is very flexible with my hours, so he'll let me work 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. so I can get in my 20 hours (all he can afford me for) and I can pick up DS. Doing that, however, means I count out the rest of the hours of the week that I could be (and have been) picking up as a fill-in for other offices. (Right now, I'm picking up 10 hours a week at another office to supplement and help train their new staff.) The school is only a few blocks from where we live, but neither of us feel comfortable letting a 5 year old walk and none of our neighbors are stable enough (i.e. they move in and out at any point in time) so we're kind of between a rock and a hard place.

I'm really hoping to BF baby, because it will save money, but I'm terrified that because I'll be working through lunch, I'll have supply issues. I'm totally putting the cart before the horse thing. I'll have to see if I can talk to my MW to see if there's a similar program here and make sure I get a jump start with a lactation consultant when the baby is finally here.

  • I have days like that! My BFF is much more calm and it helps me a lot to let her calm me down lol.

Good luck with everything. I know it's easy for me to say but I'm sure it will all work out!!
