People with a Pfaff sewing machine
Are they finicky and super difficult? Will it be too much for a beginner?
I've been dying to start sewing on a machine. My SMIL was lovely enough to give me hers, because she doesn't use it. I downloaded the owner's manual, but I'm actually a little bit scared of the machine right now. I'm afraid that I'm going to end up breaking it the first time I try to use.
So tell me that it's not that scary, and that I have nothing to worry about.

People who have a Pfaff tend to LOVE them. I don't have a Pfaff, but they are a good quality machine and shouldn't be finicky. Read the owner's manual. It should explain the basics.
Just go for it. You'll figure it out quickly. :-)
You will be way better off with your Pfaff than a lot of other options, how lucky you are to have one given to you! I wish I had been able to start out with my Pfaff! I love mine, it's very easy to use.

I have an older Pfaff -- a Tiptronic something or another -- and I LOVE it. If I ever buy another machine, I can pretty much guarantee it will be another Pfaff. The built-in dual feed is great -- I can't imagine having to have a separate foot just for dual feed. (I know you probably don't know what that means, but I love it.)

Sorry it took so long to get back. Thanks ladies! I was a little worried, it was going to be like taking a 6 year old who just who learned how to ride a bike putting them on a Harley.
It's a Tipmatic 6110. I read through the owner's manual again, and I'm feeling a little more confident. I'm going to pick up some basic cheapo material tomorrow, and practice with it, before I attempt any real projects although I have a few in mind that I'm kind impatient to start. My first intended project will be curtains for all 3 of the windows in our apartment, possibly followed by a few throw pillows. Hopefully by the end of summer, I'll be able to make, some cute little simple dresses for my niece, or my dog...Who knows where this may lead!
Cheap fabric is fine, but buy good thread. Coats and Clark Dual Duty XP or Gutterman are my preferred choices. It will save you headaches.
