When H and I were still just boyfriend and girlfriend and had only been dating a few months (I was 17, H was 20), he paid for half of my bcp.  Nevermind the fact that he bought condoms on his own.

This guy would never get to see me naked again (not like that's a huge draw, but you know what I mean).

And I'm totally side-eyeing HER for thinking that 9 years on bcp is going to hurt her "reproductive future".

She seems completely immature. Especially considering that she is letting him make the decisions in this matter? Hello. It's my ute, so I'll tell you that you can't just do that and get away with it.

I can understand not wanting to take hormonal BC, I don't because it gives me nasty headaches, but it doesn't appear like that is the case. These people seem to have a lot of growing up to do. It's scary they are taking such a chance that could result in creating a life.

  • Husband isn't getting any ass and he's probably getting divorce papers if I were in her shoes. WTF, man?

This is exactly what we did, too. Even when we were "just dating" we understood that babies were way more expensive than bcp ... and that both of us were on the hook if I got KU. And he has also sprung for condoms (And never bitched about wearing them) whenever I'm on antibiotics or something.

She's been on BCP since she was 15. Zip it!

  • I started bcp at 16. I don't think 15 is egregious at all.

I was 17.  I agree.  Also, plenty of people start bcp for medical reasons.  And I would rather have my 15 year old on bcp than giving birth her sophomore year of high school.

  • Love the "I won't feel as emotionally connected to you" bulls!!t.  Give me a break.  How about "it doesn't feel as good" the man can't even be honest with her and sounds to me like a total dovcher
  • I would have started BCP as soon as I started my period (even though I was as pure as the driven snow) if I had known that it would have made my periods lighter and had I been able to convince my mom that it wouldnt mean that I am a dirtyhor.

  • Oh, and of course he went with 'emotionally connected' vs 'it feels better'.  Emotionally connected makes him sound way less like a self-centered assh*le.

  • 1. It's mind boggling that someone who wants a Masters of Public Health is so dumb when it comes to birth control.  Education FAIL!

    2. One of the responders in that thread is dumber than a box of rocks.  "Oh, hey, I've got some anecdotal evidence that trumps all this sciency stuff you're hearing about. I mean, doctors, pffffhhhh.  What do they know?"  You know what else there's anecdotal evidence of?  Bigfoot.

    3. Her husband is a douche.

    This is my siggy.

:delurking: I am shocked that it took 40 replies before someone brought that up.

PLEASE point out where this was said. Like, in all seriousness because I'm baffled, what is wrong with saying I've heard anecdotal stories? My sister had to get her overlies removed and they suspect it was from hormonal bc, as well as I've just read a lot of unscientific experinces and most I take with salt but it is out there that it can cause issues. I never said it causes sterility, just issues. Like the op herself experienced. And I haven't done any research on it, which is why I specifically said I don't know what the scientific answer is.

I mean, I really like y'all from my lurking and little posting, I just don't understand that one thing that I think was a pretty reasonable reply. Should I profess to know everything instead?

I know, I would just hate to have my overlies removed.
