So my team (Conviction Crossfit) is definitely going to the Southwest Regional CrossFit games the first weekend of May.
We had a meeting at the gym last week with all the interested parties (about 14-15 split equally between men and women. . . a team is 3 men/3 women and one alternate of each).
Teams have to be finalized by 4/16 and we decided we wanted our coaches to make the decision of who would be best for the team since they are the most objective and have watched our performance for months. They'll take into account our performance overall, performance in the Open, and the work we put in the next two weeks leading up to team selection.
Regardless of if I'm placed on the team or not, this has been a life-changing experience and I'm so glad to be affiliated with this group of people.
So my plan is to go to WOD's daily (and make up on the weekend if I can't make it to a WOD) plus to extra skill work as I can. I'm a group fitness instructor, so I subbed out a few classes per week (I teach between 6 and 9 classes on a regular week) to give my body a little rest. Also hired a neighbor to babysit for a few WOD's a week so I don't have to bring the kids to the gym and I can really focus.
My weakness is in some of my strength elements, so I have to do strict pullups as much as possible (so every time I go into my gym to teach a class I do pullups). I also borrrowed as set of rings to hang on the kid's swingset to do ring dips and muscle up progression (I really need to get a muscle up in the next few weeks).
The WOD's have been extra-crazy already this week. It's going to be a wild couple of weeks!!
