crockpot meatball question
I normally make my turkey meatballs on the stove, in a large pot with tomato sauce and garlic. I stir them every so often to make sure they don't burn on the bottom, etc.
I was thinking to save time I'd cook them in my crockpot tomorrow. We leave for work around 9/9:30 and get home 7ish. I'd cook them on low. I always use slow cooker liners.
Any suggestions on how to make sure they don't burn? I want to cook them in the cause, so putting balled up foil under the liner doesn't seem like the way to go (I do this with chicken sometimes).
TIA!
Re: crockpot meatball question
You have to use a decent amount of liquid for them not to stick. The last time I made them I used jarred/canned stuff and used a jar of spaghetti sauce, a can of diced tomatoes (not drained) and a small can of tomato paste.
As long as you scoop the sauce over them before leaving for the day you should be fine. I've had mine in the crock pot for 10 hours before with no burning.
