What are your easter food traditions?

We always make paska (a sweet bread), hrudka (a type of cheese) and chrin (a combo of beets and horseradish), ham and kielbasa.  I think for the first time this year I am also going to try and attempt to make pysanky though thats not really a food tradition lol

    is your family polish?

Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:
Alison's book recommendations, favorite quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)
  • My family is Greek, so we always cook a whole lamb on a spit. We usually have spanakopitas/cheese pies, roasted lemon-oregano potatoes, tomato-stewed peas or green beans, and just a bunch of other stuff. There's also a Greek bread called tsoureki, which is a slightly sweet eggy bread.

  • Both families usually: Ham, deviled eggs, cooked carrots, potatoes (varies each year: roased, mashed, cheesy), salad & something chocolate for dessert.

This year, trad. with my family & going out to a Chinese restaurant with DH's family.

  • Easter morning we eat hot cross buns, Paskha, hard boiled eggs, and strawberries.

Easter dinner usually consists of: a Cheese plate with local charcuterie & pickled vegetables; Ham or lamb; grilled asparagus, scalloped potatoes (or some kind of potato dish); some kind of grain salad - couscous; farro; bulgur, whatever); roasted beet salad; rolls; for dessert, more paskha, Almond Cake, and fresh strawberries.

  • Growing up we always had either pasta or avgolemono as a first course, roasted leg of lamb with potatoes, green beans for a main course, and various desserts.

The past few years have been with my ILs and they don't eat lamb :(

I want to start a breakfast tradition for us but don't know what that will be just be just yet.
