clear baking dishes vs. stoneware dishes
Is there a big difference between glass baking dishes (dishes like Pyrex or Anchor -- the clear kind) and stoneware baking dishes (like the Pampered Chef or Le Crueset)? What cooks well in the glass ones and what cooks well in the stoneware ones? I currently only have the glass Pyrex type of dishes but am wondering if I need to add a couple of stoneware ones to stash.
Re: clear baking dishes vs. stoneware dishes
I have some of both.
Stoneware...I wash by hand only, and you don't grease them or it'll ruin it. I have a mini loaf pan (makes 4 at once), a covered baker and a round pizza stone. like to use them for things that I want some crisp too or cooked edges. For example, I use the covered baker to make baked nachos. The more you use stoneware the better it is.
I like my Pyrex because I can bake, serve, then use the lid for leftovers. It makes it really easy. I use them for things like enchiladas, casseroles, etc.
