Removing urine from upholstered furniture

Hi Ladies, popping over with a quick question. We are in the midst of potty training, and while DD is doing pretty well, she has leaks from time to time. What is the best way to remove urine from upholstered furniture? So far i've blotted it with towels a nd dabbed it with water and tried to dry it again with towels. Any other suggestions?

Re: Removing urine from upholstered furniture

  • What about Nature's miracle?  It works awesome when my cat has accidents.  You can get it at any pet store.

  • Wee Cleaner is for pets, but I've used it for the same problems with DS. It has to be purchased online. Both it and Nature's Miracle are pretty $$ though, but they work. But I love Wee Cleaner.
  • Try Oxyclean.  It will get out anything organic!  It works on everything I have tried even blood.  Don't forget that it has to be mixed with warm water to work.  My friend complained that it wasn't working for her only to find out she used cold water. Good luck!

  • That's a tough one.  It's always going to be in the "stuffing" nothing you can do to remove that really... I'd just Clorox wipe it and Lysol spray it.  Then Febreze.  Then put one of those waterproof pads on the couch :)  Good luck!

  • I have this problem with my boston terrier. She's not allowed on the couch anymore and when we yell at her to get down she pees on it. (Which is why she's not allowed in the first place.)

I have a Kirby vacuum/carpet cleaner, and it has attachments for shampooing carpets, and shampooing furniture. I use the furniture shampoo attachment and a special pet carpet shampoo mixed with water. Not only does it get rid of stains, but it smells great afterward.

But you don't need an expensive vaccuum cleaner to get this result. All you need is the shampoo. Even though it's due to a child's leaks, I'd recommend a pet carpet shampoo. Rug doctor brand is good, Kirby brand is better. They are much better at cleaning these type of stains and deodorizing. Mix the shampoo and water in a container and try to get it to a foamy consistency, and spread the foam on the couch. If it doesn't get foamy, I've even just poured it straight on and when it dries the stain and smell are gone. I've never had problems with mold or mildew either. (I'm extremely allergic to both.)

    Hope that helps! :)
