Y'all know about the Viggle app, right?
Since TV is discussed on here more than anything, I figured if you didn't know about it, you might want to. You can download it from iTunes and use it to 'check in' to shows you're watching. Every time you check in, you get points, and some bigger events (like the Oscars or The Final Four) let you play along and answer questions for more points. Then you can trade in your points for gift cards for places like Old Navy, GAP, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, etc. I've only been using it a few weeks and have been able to get a new Nook book.
I'm sure they use it to research what shows and TV ratings and what not. It's a pretty neat thing, when I can remember to use it.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

I think it was just struggling yesterday. Usually it picks up 90% of my shows so far, but yesterday I think it only recognized one, if that. I think it was just having a bad day. Glad to hear I'm not the only one though!
Thanks for this post -- I just signed up on my iPad. So cool!!
I'm having fun with it already, and in just a few hours I already have almost 2000 points. I've never watched American Idol, but I checked in to it and took a little quiz. I got bonus points because it was a featured show, plus points for the quiz. Awesome.
Does this work on DVR'd shows?
I rarely watch anything when it's actually on.
It's apparently kind of wonky with DVR'd shows.
I watched Modern Family a couple hours after I recorded it last night, and it worked fine. I just set it to check in to DD's DVR'ed Little Einsteins, and that worked too, but it was during the opening song, so it might have thought it was a show currently showing on TV.
It's worth a try. My guess is it will work much better the sooner you watch it after you record it.
