Update on Grandpa

He's feeling a lot better because they removed 1.2 liters of fluid from just one lung! Yikes! But it went great. It's a pretty basic procedure but if you screw it up, infection can occur and yaddayaddaya.

I love old people. Okay, I know not everyone loves old people but at the same time, I don't understand why some people hate/are disgusted by old people... we're all going to be old eventually (well, unless we die young). Anyway, I think my Grandpa is cute.

  • I think he's cute, and I'm in the "love old people" camp. I used to do in-home care for elderly patients and I adored some of them...

Glad to hear it went well, I hope everything goes good from here on! :)

  • I'm glad he's doing better.

I think a lot of people don't like old people somewhat out of fear for what the future may hold. I loved my grandparents, but I hated visiting them when they were in retirement homes. It seemed so bleak. I felt bad for them, for the other people there, and then it would get me thinking about my parents getting older, getting older myself...

  • Thanks so much for the kind words, everyone!

Con - I'm sorry you can't see the photo Sad

Liz - I definitely agree to that point of view. I do not like visiting people in hospitals or nursing homes because of the fear it sometimes brings. I'm very thankful that out of my 4 grandparents, only 1 was in a nursing home for a short time. But I remember visiting my great-grandma, and always thought I never wanted to live like that. That's also how my grandpa feels (and why he's still living on his own).
