Advice for fighting rose slugs?

Right now I'm picking them off and squishing them. I tried the soap and water thing last year but it was still a nonstop battle. TIA

Re: Advice for fighting rose slugs?

  • I started getting those a few years ago, they are horrible!

I watch carefully in the spring to catch it when they first come out then take off all the badly infected leaves and spray with BT  Try to pick a day when the weather will be dry for a few days, I usually get control after only one spray.

  • I don't know what rose slugs are but when we have slug damage, I dig a little hole to set a soup can in so that its rim is even with the ground, then fill it up with cheap beer and all the slugs dive right in. Its gross having to empty it but it works really well and my plants start thriving again right away.
