Whoops! Hairball cat food.

I ordered Sherlock his canned food from amazon like always and when it arrived I realized I accidentally got the adult hairball formula instead of just the adult cat formula. I checked the ingredients and they are nearly identical. The only difference is the order in which the meats are listed... And that order doesn't change until the third line of ingredients. Line one and two are the same.

This should be ok right? He has coughed up a hairball a few weeks ago so I guess it won't hurt... But I just want to make sure I don't need to send these back.

Re: Whoops! Hairball cat food.

  • Meh, I'd feed it. They have to meet the same standards too, right?
  • That's what I figured. The ingredients look good. It's 24 cans so it's almost a month's worth and after today he'll be out of the other kind.
  • You don't need to send them back.  It is probably different in terms of % crude protein, etc. and the quantity of each ingredient which is why they are listed in a different order.  I'm not sure whether hairball food usually has a lower or higher protein % but you want the higher one.  I tend to think the hairball and weight loss formulas are BS anyways
